Keep it simple, stupid!

Sometimes simple is better.

KISS is an acronym for Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Sometimes I think this one is more important than the goal setting acronym SMART (which means goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound.)

If we want to improve our health, we should keep it simple so it doesn't become completely overwhelming. For me, I shut down then. If it feels like just too much, I will quit before I even start. So you want to make some steps towards being healthier. Well, keep it simple. Drink more water. Even just drink a full glass of water at each meal. There, you drank more water today without making it super complicated. Walk a bit more. If you have a step tracker, see how many steps you get in a day and try to increase it by 1%, or just add a 10 minute walk to your day. Do that every week for a month, and you have way more steps without making it hard. Then you will get used to that extra bit of time being spent walking, without complicating your schedule with a 1 hour walk when you already feel like you are so busy. Another hack I love - bagged salads. I often make chicken for supper on Monday, and purposely make extra. Then I buy whatever bagged salads that are discounted at the grocery store. I split the salad into a few containers, add chicken and boom. Simple lunches for the week. I didn’t have to buy a million things and chop all the things.

So try to skip the overwhelm and over thinking and keep it simple. One small change at a time.
